What is your level of English?
The Delfin Placement Tests consists of an assesment of your writing and speaking, and a grammar/vocabulary test. You will have taken your grammar/ vocabulary test before you arrive at the school, and will take your writing and speaking tests on your first day at school. We will use the results from all of these assessments to determine your level of English and to put you into the correct class.
Levels
Your level will be determined using The Council of Europe global scale of levels. Our levels are described as follows:
A1- Elementary
You can understand and use everyday expressions and basic phrases in a simple way. You can introduce yourself and others and ask and answer simple personal questions. You can interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and helps.
A2- Pre- Intermediate
You can understand sentences and frequently used expressions on areas of immediate revelance. You can communicate in simple and routine tasks on familiar matters. You can describe your background and immediate environment needs in simple terms.
B1- Intermediate
You can understand the main points of clear input on familiar matters that you regularly encounter. You can produce simple connected text on familiar topics. You can describe experiences and events and give brief reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.
B2- Upper Intermediate
You can understand the main ideas of complex text, including technical discussions in your field of specialisation. You can interact with fluency and spontaneity, making regular interaction with native speakers possible without any strain.
C1- Advanced
You can express ideas fluently and spontaneously without searching for expressions. You can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. You can produce clear, well structured, detailed text on complex subjects.
