Delfin Blog - I dream of travelling the world

Ever since I was a young child, my parents taught me to be free and to appreciate my achievements. I also soon realised that these achievements were based on freedom. I always knew that I wanted to travel so I chose a profession that gave me fantastic opportunities to see the world - photography!

A few years ago I was invited to travel around South America for a year with a female photographer who cared about human rights as much as me. It was such an amazing opportunity but at that time, I couldn’t accept the offer because I didn’t know how to speak English. From that moment on I understood how important English was to expand my knowledge and to help me communicate with people from all over the world. English is a universal language that allows you to connect with people from all different walks of life.

Coming to Dublin wasn’t an easy decision to make, it was hard to give up the life that I had created for myself in Brazil. But I felt so inspired and I knew that I had to do this, so I put my life on hold and chose to study English abroad. At the time, I wasn’t sure what to expect and I kept wondering if I was doing the right thing, but in the end it was the best thing I could have done. There is so much that I never would have experienced and so many people that I would have never met.

I now live a life that allows me to be free, where I am in control. I try to look after myself and treat my body like a temple. I live a very healthy lifestyle. Eating at home is cheap and I am a pretty good cook. I love experimenting with recipes in the kitchen. Along with eating well, I try to exercise when I can. I have the opportunity to cycle my bicycle around Dublin and visit beautiful parks. I practice yoga; I love it, it gives me the chance to strengthen my mind and my body so that I can take on the world. When I am not studying, I find time to read, relax and meet new people from all over the world.

Delfin is definitely different! Learning English here has been easy and enjoyable. My teachers are always ready to help and I find that my questions are always answered. I love how diverse my class is. There are people from over 50 different countries in the school.

When I leave here, I know that I will be prepared for the outside world, but right now I am enjoying every moment. Freedom has a price, and I prefer to think that this price is an investment for a bigger dream. My dream is to travel around the world to photograph free women, just like me.
